Guest Post: Karissa, Jake & Katie Photography intern

We are currently accepting applications for interns and we thought it would be fun to have one of our past interns share their experience. Our most recent intern, Karissa, traveled all the way to Tampa from Melbourne every other week, as well as some extra times here and there to help with weddings and shoots.

Over the past six months of interning with Jake and Katie I learned a.) that I have a long way to go before I'm fluent in movie/tv quotes and b.) that without a doubt, they are some of the most amazing people I will ever meet.

Jake and Katie instantly welcomed me into their business, home and family (Molly wasn't quite as excited about the idea at first, but she warmed up to me eventually. ;) We spent time working, shooting, making Starbucks runs, exploring Tampa, and editing—and every minute of it was worth it. If I had questions about anything, (editing software, what coffee to order, how to word a blog post) they were quick to teach me....and not just so I would get better at helping them. Both Jake and Katie have a genuine desire to make a positive impact and encourage everyone they come in contact with through their business. Having had my senior photos taken by them the previous year, I was well aware of it, but working with them for months gave me a whole new perspective. From going the extra mile in every area, to ensuring client satisfaction each and every time, and to making everything (editing for hours on end or golden hour engagement sessions) downright fun, Jake and Katie are easily the most joyful, genuine, and intentional people I've ever met.

It's kind of ironic that, at this point, I'm actually not planning on pursuing photography as a career. The Lord had a different plan for my life than I expected. But either way, I am so thankful His plan put me on a path that led me to Jake and Katie and allowed me to spend time working with/for them (and also some movie marathons...because what's better than Netflix after a hard day's work?)

I can't even put into words the impact they made on my life. And I know I'm not the only one, because Jake and Katie radiate joy and touch the lives of everyone they meet.
